BLUECODE PAYMENT ACCEPTANCE: PAYONE LAUNCHES FULLY-AUTOMATED “SPEED” CONTRACT PROCESS

Medium-sized merchants, catering and service companies, in particular, are faced with special challenges during the post-lock-down phase – also in terms of customers’ changing payment behaviour. To ensure payments can be easily, quickly and securely accepted in the era of “new normality,” PAYONE, the joint venture between Ingenico Group, the global leader in seamless payment services, and the DSV Group, Competence Center Payment of the Sparkassen-Finanzgruppe, has completely automated the digital contract process for Bluecode payment acceptance. Effective immediately, German and Austrian merchants, who are interested in a flexible and uncomplicated introduction to a mobile payment solution, can conclude a legally valid contract for the acceptance of Bluecode payments and the use of the free Bluescan App for acceptance transactions. The fully-automated process can be completed in an extremely short amount of time and only requires a few steps.

Bluecode, the European optical payment solution developed by Blue Code International AG, represents an attractive opportunity to enter into the realm of cashless payment, thus eliminating activation, rental and fixed costs for merchants, who only have to reimburse the incurred payment transaction fee. Using the Bluescan App, merchants can accept Bluecode payments, which is particularly suitable for payments conducted without a POS: Whether directly in the shop while being advised, at outdoor catering locations, market stands – with the Bluescan App, payments can be accepted in all mobile sales situations – from smartphone to smartphone, thus taking into account the vital aspect of hygiene in the era of Covid-19.

Onboarding process for the Bluescan App
The new digital onboarding process only requires a few intuitive interaction steps, during which identity and other evaluations are automatically conducted, and ultimately leads to an electronically signed and therefore legally valid contract. Immediately thereafter, merchants have direct access the Payone merchant page, where they can use a QR code to download and activate the Bluescan App, thus ensuring quick use thereof. In addition, the Bluescan App can be easily and flexibly downloaded on several smartphones as required – for example, in the catering field or when it comes to equipping alternating cashiers.

How does the payment process work?
To accept Bluecode payments via the Bluescan App, the integrated calculator feature is used to type in the desired amount. For even quicker payment processing, products and prices can also be saved and selected. There’s even a simple way to enter in gratuity amounts.

To pay, a customer presents his or her smartphone featuring the blue bar code – also referred to as the “Bluecode” – which is valid for one payment transaction and is protected by a security pin code or biometric. This Bluecode must then simply be scanned by the merchant using the Bluescan App and the payment is then triggered directly from the customer’s current account. The use of the Bluescan App also offers additional advantages: Depending on merchants’ wishes, the acceptance of payments from, for example, Alipay is also possible.

Choice of access to WLAN or mobile roaming
The Bluescan App functions either by accessing the wireless local area network (WLAN), or mobile roaming. Thus, outdoor catering operators enjoy a high degree of independence, while constantly ensuring a secure and simple payment process.

Trouble-free integration of terminal or POS solutions
Another option is the integration of a terminal or a POS solution that extends beyond the Bluescan smartphone payment acceptance function, which can be easily implemented by means of a software update. Both solutions can be used independently.
